High Adventure in 2018

As you may have heard, back in November, the troop voted to go to the Boy Scouts of America Florida Sea Base for High Adventure in the summer of 2018!  (19 months from now!)

Sea Base is an amazing BSA program based in the beautiful Florida Keys that can involve sailing, snorkeling, fishing, SCUBA diving, or camping on a deserted island!

High adventure is a physical and mental challenge for older scouts It does not replace TMR summer camp – but is a different type of adventure.

Scouts must be at least 13 and have graduated 8th grade, or 14 years old by September 1, 2018 to be eligible to go.

Scouts must also be at least First Classactively participate in the troop, earn some specific merit badges, and attend practice sessions before we go.

If your scout is too young for 2018, the troop voted to go to the fantastic Northern Tier Canoe base in 2019.  Future years are TBD.

Cost will be roughly $1200 – $1500 (all inclusive) depending on airfare and the program selected.  There are camperships available for anyone with financial need.

What’s Next

The troop will enter a lottery in January for our slot at Sea Base.  In March 2017, once our dates and programs are selected, we’ll collected a $100 deposit to secure spots.

More details will come as we get closer – but we wanted to let you know about this amazing trip that is now on the horizon!
